Hard for me to believe that some of y'all think Tech beating a team as down as UT somehow "validates" the ACC...what a joke.

When are you guys ever going to learn that conference strength is a fradulent arguement? Every game is about matchups, not about conference strength. You could put a bad WAC team up against Alabama and if that team had certain strengths and used them against Bamas weakenesses, you could get an upset. If Bama losses to Texas, it will be a result of mismatches and time off from the regular season(rustyness), not conference affiliation.

It's fraudulent if you assume a team will beat another based on the conference they play in...but it's not fraudulent to say one conference is stronger then the other..and that's wht I was saying. Tech is as good as the ACC has to offer..and that ain't saying much.

its not saying much when you are playing 3 teams a year that are barely even D1. im a tech fan but come on now. there schedule is and always will be ****.

ok this year ALONE VT played the:

SEC champion...(national champion?)
Big 12 runner-up (should've won that game over Texas)
Conf. USA champion

then there was Marshall, who would be considered the pancake of the group who were bowl eligible and won their bowl game

then in-conference games against a top 10 GT and a Miami team who was #11 at the time

but let's go back even further than that...in the 6-year span that VT has won at least 10 games, these have been the OOC opponents:

USC
Auburn
WVU
Louisville
Cincinnati (twice)
Southern Miss
Georgia
LSU
Kansas
Nebraska (twice)
Alabama
Tennessee

name any other team who has played against tougher opponents OOC

Auburn, one of the Cincy games, Georgia, Kansas and UT were bowl games but still count toward whether or not VT gets to 10 wins in a season

VT having a weak schedule is an old argument, and a tired one at that

They did...and it's the only major conference they could have won... And for the record, instead of trying to build up VT cuz of their "tough" schedule (WTF?) give us a run down of quality wins they've had in the past few years alnog with the records those "Quality win" teams they beat sported at the end of the season. That'll give you a clearer picture of where VT stands.
